Job Description

The key objectives of the Volunteer Recruitment VISTA are to expand and strengthen the volunteer infrastructure for Haven Neighborhood Services programs, ensuring sustainable community engagement and increased access to financial empowerment services. This includes recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers for the VITA program, financial literacy workshops, and community outreach initiatives.

Volunteer Recruitment & Outreach

1. Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage potential volunteers, including partnerships with universities, community organizations, and corporate sponsors.


2. Promote opportunities through social media, local events, and online platforms.

Training & Capacity Building

1. Organize and facilitate training sessions for volunteers, ensuring they are well-equipped for their roles in free tax preparation (VITA), financial literacy instruction, and event support.


2. Develop training materials and coordinate certification processes.

Volunteer Management & Retention

1. Maintain volunteer records, track participation, and implement engagement strategies to increase retention.


2. Plan recognition events and appreciation initiatives to encourage long-term involvement.

Event Implementation

1. Build capacity for volunteer-supported events such as financial education workshops, tax preparation pop-ups, and outreach campaigns.


2. Ensure volunteers are effectively placed and prepared for their roles.

Program Evaluation & Impact Reporting

1. Collect and analyze data on volunteer engagement and program impact.


2. Provide reports to leadership and identify opportunities for improvement and sustainability in volunteer efforts.

Member Duties

The Volunteer Recruitment VISTA will play a key role in volunteer recruitment, training, and engagement to support financial education and tax assistance programs. Responsibilities include developing outreach strategies, building partnerships, maintaining a volunteer database, leading training sessions, assisting in volunteer placement, organizing events, tracking participation, and implementing retention initiatives to ensure volunteers are recruited, trained, and recognized effectively.
