Job Description

American Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for School Psychologists for the 25-26 School year for all campuses in the East and West valley.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Provide a range of school psychological services to children, including screening and assessment, and designing remedial educational programs.
  • Function as a member of the multidisciplinary team to determine the student's eligibility for special services, appropriate programming, and on-going progress.
  • Implement all procedures to meet compliance standards as outlined in Federal and State Law (i.e., IDEA and Child Find) for the identification and placement of students eligible for special education services.
  • Consult with education professionals to ensure the academic achievement and social development of students.
  • Assessment – Administer, score, and interpret clinical assessments to students suspected of having a disability.
  • Consultation and collaboration – Participate in pre-referral intervention teams (SST), provide academic and behavioral intervention input, collaborate weekly with site level teams, and offer availability for individual consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators.
  • Compliance – Maintain on-going student special education records in compliance with IDEA and Child Find. School psychologists are required to re-evaluate existing SPED students on a triennial cycle, respond to parent requests, and evaluate incoming referrals from SST. All referral sources include mandates required by federal and state laws.
  • Travel may be required between campuses.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct assessments to identify the underlying causes of challenging behaviors and create appropriate intervention plans.
  • Skill in analyzing test results and other data to form conclusions about a student's strengths, weaknesses, and needs, and to guide interventions and recommendations.
  • Ability to provide one-on-one counseling to students, addressing a variety of emotional, social, or behavioral concerns.
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to identify students' academic, behavioral, and emotional needs and create appropriate interventions.
  • Ability to participate in the creation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), including conducting assessments and providing recommendations for educational accommodations and services.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and detailed reports that summarize assessment findings, treatment plans, and recommendations for parents, school staff, and other professionals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Specialist Degree in School Psychology or a Master's in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field
  • Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
  • Completion of a certified school psychology program from an accredited institution, typically involving coursework in educational psychology, child development, assessment techniques, and interventions.
  • Valid licensure or certification as a school psychologist, as mandated by the state or district.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in School Psychology
  • Additional specialized coursework or certifications in areas such as trauma-informed care, counseling techniques, social-emotional learning (SEL), or behavior analysis.
  • Previous experience as a school psychologist or related role
